The Medieval City

The 2025 Harlaxton Medieval Symposium will take place between Monday 18th and Thursday 21st August at Madingley Hall, Cambridge, and the theme will be The Medieval City. It will be convened by Richard Asquith, Rachael Harkes, and Christian Liddy. Please see the provisional programme here.

Please submit a booking form in order to register for the Symposium. The deadline for residential bookings is Friday 20th June. The deadline for non-residential bookings is Friday 18th July.

We are delighted to offer a total of seven scholarships for PGRs/ECRs whose research relates closely to the theme of this year’s Symposium, as well as a PGR/ECR presentation competition. Two Dobson Scholarships, funded by the Symposium, and five Yorkist History Trust scholarships are available. The application process for both is the same: please see the links above.

The Yorkist History Trust is a charity that promotes and funds ‘education, learning, and research related to the history of late medieval England (and in particular the reign of King Richard III)’. As part of their Ruby Anniversary celebrations, they have made a generous grant to the 2025 Harlaxton Medieval Symposium that will fund five additional PGR/ECR scholarships as well as a drinks reception.
